How an IPO works, in dates

An IPO is open for bids for three working days (T is the last one). Under SEBI's T+3 timetable the shares are allotted on T+1, refunds and demat credit follow on T+2, and the shares list on the exchange on T+3. Each IPO page works these dates out for you, counting only trading days.

Mainboard and SME IPOs

Mainboard IPOs list on the main NSE and BSE markets, with a lot worth about ₹14,000–15,000. SME IPOs are for smaller companies, list on NSE Emerge or BSE SME, and come in much larger lots, usually over ₹1 lakh. They are thinly traded and riskier.
