How to check IPO allotment status
- On the registrar's website. Every IPO names a registrar, the firm that processes applications and runs the allotment. Open its IPO status page, choose the company from the list and enter your PAN, application number or demat account (DP/client ID).
- On NSE or BSE. Both exchanges have an allotment page for issues listed on them. You need your PAN and application number. SME issues on NSE Emerge are checked on NSE.
- In your bank or UPI app. If the blocked amount is debited, you got shares. If the block is released, you did not.

When allotment comes out: SEBI's T+3 timetable
Every IPO follows the same timetable, counted in working days after the issue closes (T):
| Day | What happens |
|---|---|
| T | The issue closes. Bids end at 5 pm, and UPI mandates must be approved by then. |
| T+1 | Basis of allotment is finalised. Status pages usually show your result by the evening. |
| T+2 | Shares reach the demat accounts of those allotted. Blocked money is released for the rest. |
| T+3 | The shares list. A special pre-open session runs from 9 am, and normal trading starts at 10 am. |
Weekends and exchange holidays do not count, so an issue that closes on a Friday allots on Monday.
If you are not allotted shares
Your money was never taken. Applications through ASBA or UPI only block the amount in your bank account, and the block is released by T+2. If it is still blocked after that, contact your bank first, then the registrar with your application number. If neither resolves it, you can complain to SEBI through its SCORES portal.
In an oversubscribed mainboard IPO, retail allotment is a lottery: each winner gets one lot. Applying for more lots does not raise your chance. Applying through accounts in different family members' names, each with its own PAN, does.
If you are allotted shares
The amount for the shares you got is debited, any extra is released, and the shares appear in your demat account on T+2. You can sell from listing day. Selling within a year is a short-term capital gain, taxed at 20% on listed shares.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check IPO allotment status?
Open the registrar's IPO status page (named in the IPO's details), pick the IPO and enter your PAN, application number or demat account number. You can also check on NSE's and BSE's allotment pages with your PAN and application number.
When is IPO allotment status announced?
On the first working day after the issue closes (T+1), under SEBI's T+3 timetable. The registrar's page usually shows it by the evening, sometimes late at night.
What happens if I do not get an IPO allotment?
Nothing was debited: the amount was only blocked in your bank account through ASBA or UPI, and the block is released by the second working day after closing (T+2).
When do allotted shares reach my demat account?
On T+2, the second working day after the issue closes. The shares list and start trading on T+3.
Does applying for more lots improve my chance of allotment?
Not for retail investors in an oversubscribed mainboard IPO. Allotment is by lottery, and each winner gets one lot, however many lots they bid for.
Is it safe to check allotment status on SmartFigure?
SmartFigure never asks for your PAN or application number. The links open the registrar's and exchanges' own websites, where you type them.
For information only. Not investment advice. SmartFigure is not registered with SEBI as an investment adviser or research analyst. Allotment dates follow SEBI's T+3 timetable; the registrar's notice is final. Updated Tue, 13 Oct 2026.
