Frequently asked questions
Are banks closed on Saturdays in December 2026?
Banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays: 12 Dec and 26 Dec. They are open on the other Saturdays unless a holiday falls on them.
Do UPI, NEFT and RTGS work on bank holidays?
Yes. UPI, IMPS, NEFT and RTGS all run 24×7, including on bank holidays, Sundays and bank Saturdays, as do ATMs, net banking and mobile banking. Cheque clearing and branch services wait until the next working day.
What happens to my EMI or SIP if its date is a bank holiday?
Auto-debits scheduled on a holiday are usually processed on the next working day. Check your loan or fund documents, as a few lenders debit on the previous working day instead.
